Jack Tiraquon

Originating from Belfast and based in Amsterdam since 2024, Jack Hamill is the hardware cosmonaut behind Space Dimension Controller and his trilogy of space saga albums, culminating in The World Overhead (2026) landing on Tiraquon Recordings.

Breaking through as Space Dimension Controller – named after his first piece of studio gear – in 2009 with the dreamy electro funk 12-inch, The Love Quandrant, 20-year-old Hamill signed to the legendary R&S Records as part of the label's new generation acts who collectively redefined British dance music through the 2010s.

Hamill stood out from his peers with his irreverent range of nostalgic music influences, which he paired with science fiction storytelling and cinematic scope. Equally indebted to Prince and Brian Eno, as Roedelius from the krautrock group Cluster and Rephlex's maverick coterie, he wrote records narrating the time travelling misadventures of characters Mr. 8040, Max Tiraquon and his son Jack, which all served as avatars for Hamill himself.

Alongside synth-driven house and electro dancefloor 12-inches Journey to the Core of the Unknown Sphere (2010) and the Correlation EP trilogy (2013–15) for Clone sublabel Royal Oak, The Pathway to Tiraquon6 (2011) served as a Detroit-meets-braindance prequel to the twinned long players for R&S Records. On album debut Welcome to Mikrosector-50 (2013) Prince-inspired funk and sleek '80s synth-pop soundtracked Mr. 8040's hazardous journey home through time travel, heartbreak and drugs. By Love Beyond the Intersect (2019), the space saga turned introspective, pairing gentle krautrock influences with themes of love, redemption and self-discovery. Centred around a stranded traveller who finds salvation through the kindness of a stranger, the album mirrored Hamill's personal life, sobriety and creative renewal.

As a performer, Hamill made a name for himself as a charismatic curveball DJ, with stunts like opening Panorama Bar in Berlin for Leisure System with Phil Collins, to "breaking the internet" dropping trance in his set at the first ever AVA Festival in 2015. Hamill has since moved away from the cosmic club space, where he can and will play whatever suits his mood, rather than pander to the crowd, evolving into an accomplished live act, playing venues like Jazz Cafe in London and Le Sucre in Lyon.

Relocating to Amsterdam in 2024 and setting up a new studio, Hamill wrote the third installment of his space saga, bringing the storyline – and himself – back to earth, experimenting with driving acid and trance, and playing guitar, culminating in a fuzzy shoegaze meets banging IDM sound. Presenting under the new moniker, Jack Tiraquon, and releasing via his own label, Tiraquon Recordings, The World Overhead is the sound of Hamill removing the guise of Space Dimension Controller, and concluding the space-themed concept to move forward as the cinematic hardware musician he's always been.
